Asteria who?

Back in the 1970s, the hottest superhero song contained lyrics for someone wearing „satin tights” and „fighting for your rights.” Curiously, neither is Linda Carter Retro-Amazon Warrior or Diana Prince Gal Gadot made satin socks a regular part of their outfit. Though, if we’re not wrong, it’s very likely that evil cheetah Kristen Wiig is rocking leggings. close For this description in Wonder Woman 1984A movie in a hurry to finish it only passes by its hashtag title –WW84. Either way, and regardless of who’s been wearing satin tights (unfortunately no one?), There’s a good chance of an end WW84At least a small percentage of people will sing the song „Satin Tights” to themselves again. And that’s because of the post-credits scene for WW84 It’s a giant jolt of 1970s nostalgia.
Spoilers ahead to WW84.
Technically during the mid-credits scene, after a story WW84 Ostensibly over, we are introduced to a mysterious black-haired woman who rescues a group of innocent people from a disaster that appears to be caused by the fall of a pole. At first, we’re supposed to think this is Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, but soon the character turns to the camera and tells everyone otherwise: Her name is Asteria and „she’s been doing this for a long time.” If you have basic knowledge of pop culture, you’ll get to know the actress behind Asteria. Surprise, it’s the „original” Wonder Woman, actress Linda Carter! The tongue-in-cheek joke here is simple: OG Wonder Woman is now cast as Amazon Warrior Asteria, which Diana told us early on in the movie, that she was the one who originally wore the golden suit to the pseudo-angel armor that was revived in WW84.
As a comic book character, Asteria isn’t exactly a deep classic. As for the history of DC comics, „Asteria” is a fairly new idea, at least as far as the backstory is concerned. WW84 It is used to describe it. In the movie, Diana tells Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) that Asteria sacrificed herself to save the rest of the Amazon from the terrible world of men. This is verified mostly with the 2018/2019 reference to Asteria from Justice Squad The comic book series, to be exact Justice League (vol. 4) # 11, Where Wonder Woman tells something similar to Aquaman about the legend of Asteria.
However, the Asteria continuity of these contemporary comic books is not exactly one-to-one with what we see in WW84. This is because sound Like, by choosing Linda Carter, the movie manipulates the notion that this Asteria is kind, kind, another gorgeous woman.
In 1998, in one DC comic movie called Best Elseworld: Supergirl & Batgirl Vol 1.Readers briefly met Another Asteria, someone who sounded like Wonder Woman’s parallel Earth analog. In this dimension, Supergirl and Batgirl hold essentially the same positions Superman and Batman hold in the „Na” world, but instead of Diana Prince, this scientist (Earth-1098) had Asteria. Does this mean that Linda Carter will face Gal Gadot in the future Wonderful woman Sequel and ask her what the hell happened to her sleek armor? Alternatively, could you tell Linda Carter’s Asteria Gal Gadot that she is Different Asteria from a parallel universe? Or, more absurdly, she’s really an alien in disguise, and a refugee from the CW Arrow TV show?
If you’re shocked by the latter, here’s the thing: This isn’t the first time Linda Carter has fallen into a live-action cartoon. In addition to having a cameo in Smallville Back in 2007, she, too lately She starred as President of the United States, Olivia Marsden, on the CW’s Super girl. But in that series, her character is revealed as a shape-shifting alien named Durlan. If you thought CW superhero shows don’t happen in the same continuity as DCEU movies, then you are mostly right. However, the flash of Ezra Miller (from Justice Squad) He crossed over and recognized Grant Gustin’s Flash in the CW big game, „Crisis on Infinite Earth.” If at all, is it an exaggeration to think that Linda Carter would do the same?
Will any of these things end up in a Wonderful woman sequel? Short answer: Probably not. Maybe bringing Linda Carter for a cameo was just a clever way to make fans of the older generation feel happy, and also to remind subscribers, yeah, the 1970s. Wonderful woman, Complete with the song Nutso, is now being broadcast HBO Max.
