Google Pixel 4A 5G owners are reporting issues with their touchscreens

Google says it is aware of and working on an issue with Pixel 4A 5G touchscreens. Some devices fail to respond consistently to clicks at the bottom of the screen, which especially affects people who have chosen to navigate with three buttons rather than swipes. Android Police Spotted complaints Of the 4A 5G owners who are experiencing the issue, which appears to have emerged after the December security patch was released.

Google’s response is courtesy Post in Pixel Support Forum. The company says it will address the issue „in an upcoming software update,” but it looks like that will be at least an additional two weeks since then. Android Police The January security patch reports were not addressed. In the meantime, Google is advising users to work around the problem with some specific instructions on clicking on the navigation controls:

1. When clicking on the icons on the edge of the screen, click on the center of the button or on the side of the button / icon farthest from the edge of the screen.
2. When clicking icons, including the navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen, use the tip of your finger or thumb instead. This will help improve touch recognition.

It’s not easy to try to consciously change the way you do something like clicking a button on your phone’s screen, so we hope only Pixel 4A 5G users will have to try these embarrassing solutions for longer.

The Google January patch Addressed a host of other Pixel 4A 5G bugs And quirks with the security update. So while the touch screen issue persists, the sound error that causes crackling sounds in some situations is no longer an issue.
